“The pandemic gave everybody a range of specific challenges. The last 24 months was tasking for anyone in the medical field. During the covid pandemic we saw all kinds of acts of heroism and kindness. Everyone in the hospital system from front-line workers to the team that supports the inner operations of a hospital. But as a small family-owned food brand, it was our own specific challenge of launching nationwide in the middle of the pandemic yet limited with how we could tell people about us,” says Lekkco co-founder Bram Bourgeois.
“We’ve all have had our challenges, so we wanted to give back to the community and say thank you to the Northwestern Hospital system while creating brand awareness of a locally family-owned product,” commented co-founder Jennifer Lukas-Bourgeois.

WHO IS LEKKCO?
Chicago Suburbs, family founded and owned, the name Lekkco refers to the Flemish (Dutch) word "Lekker," which means "something delicious." The spread is inspired by Lekkco co-founder Bram Bourgeois' Belgian upbringing and frequent visits there with partner and wife Jennifer Lukas-Bourgeois and their two daughters Helena and Olivia, who was born at CDH.
"We absolutely love the tradition of chocolate for breakfast in Belgium, so this is a concept we had to bring to life here in the U.S.," says Lekkco co-founder Jennifer Lukas-Bourgeois. "While the traditional way to enjoy our dark chocolate, spread is on a slice of bread, tasty croissant or baguette, it's an amazing addition to toast with fruit, waffles, pancakes, rice cakes, smoothie bowls, and on-trend charcuterie trays."
