The owner of the Belgian chocolate spread company Lekkco dropped off several dozen jars at EPCHS on Tuesday, gifting them to the school's teachers as a thank you for their hard work over the past two years during the coronavirus pandemic. "As a parent of school aged children myself, I know how difficult the last couple of years have been," said Jennifer Lukas-Bourgeois, chief brand officer and co-founder of Lekkco, a chocolate spread company in its fifth year based out of north suburban Bartlett.
"Since we are a chocolate spread, we do a lot of spreading love. And chocolate is something that makes people happy," she said. Lukas-Bourgeois has been delivering the Lekkco jars - all nut-free recipes - to elementary and high school teachers throughout the Chicagoland area for the past couple months and plans to continue through March. While in Evergreen Park on Tuesday, she also made the chocolate spread donations at Evergreen Park Elementary School District 124 elementary schools Southwest and Southeast. "We just want to spread that positivity and give a thank you to these front-line workers," she said. Lekkco chocolate spread can be purchased locally at Mariano's and Jewel-Osco.
